The Kavango Wilderness Project (KWP) works along Namibia’s Kavango River, a critical tributary of the Okavango Basin shared with Angola and Botswana.

Our work focuses on river-based conservation science, including water quality monitoring, biodiversity surveys, and ecological research across key sections of the river system.

We collaborate closely with local communities along the Kavango River to support environmental education, sustainable resource use, and locally led conservation initiatives.

This work helps strengthen the health of the river system while supporting the people who depend on it, particularly in areas facing increasing environmental pressure.

Through science and partnership, KWP contributes to the long-term protection of the Okavango Basin’s northern catchments.
